How to Perform an Incline Dumbbell Press Correctly

May 22, 2007 9:59 PM | Chest | Exercise | Comments (0)

This is a variation on the flat bench dumbbell press.  It provides the same benefits.  The only difference is that you do it laying on an incline instead of flat.

Step 1:  Start with dumbbells on the sides of your upper chest with your elbows underneath the dumbbells.  Women, when you are in this position, the dumbbells are above your breasts.  Men, the dumbbells are above the nipple line.

How to Perform a Flat Bench Dumbbell Press Correctly

This is a great exercise to build mass and strength in your chest (pectoral) muscles.  It also works the triceps and front deltoids.  If you are not quite able to do push ups yet, this exercise will help you get on your way.

An extra benefit for women is perkier breasts.  It’s not magic - it won’t turn flat boobs into Pamela Anderson boobs, but strengthening and building the muscle that supports the breasts will give you a perkier look than you had before.  Trust me on this!

How To Perform Pushups Correctly

Some of the hardest exercises to do are those which require your own body weight.  Push ups are a great upper body exercise that works the chest, shoulders, and arms.  They can be done in the gym or at home.

If you’re a beginner, try modified push ups, with your knees bent (see pictures below).  Ready to kick it up a notch?  Move to regular push ups. If you’re advanced, try push ups with your feet on a chair.
