Does it make sense to do lower body weight training prior to an interval spin class? I try to break things up but scheduling issues sometimes get in the way and it happens I am due for lower body weight and spin class changed days...

As long as you're not overtraining, you should be fine, but naturally, your intensity level won't be the same on whichever you do last - in this case, the spin class.

If you do it and feel that it is too much, change up your weight training days so that your upper body is on spin class day.

Hope this helps! Very Happy

P.S. - I just realized you posted this yesterday. Did you do it? How do you feel?

Hi, I decided to do upper - since I could - it had been a couple days, and instead of spin I took a real bike ride up hills for 30 mins. All in all I think that was a good choice, the biking on real hills is pretty intense and I got to do a hard upper workout.

I should be recovered plenty to do a good lower body tomorrow.

Your response was in line with what I thought - so I am glad i made the choice I did so I could work to the intensity I wanted.

thanks! Kim

That was a good decision then, since you got a good workout. I like that you did a real bike ride up a hill, too!

I usually try to do my cardio (biking and swimming) on days that I don't do upper and/or lower body workouts. I like doing spin classes too as the instructors usually push me pretty hard but it can't beat getting out in the fresh air and riding a real bike. There are nature trails in our city that go for about 16 miles total that I'll ride.
